Work and Management

1) Research Assistant (RA), Amirkabir University of Technology, Tehran, Iran
I started my first research activity by being a RA at Amirkabir University of Technology. I looked for PhD candidates and talked to them about their researches. I found one of PhD candidate’s research interesting. After knowing more about the research, I decided to use my potentials in it.
I decided to model and simulate a construction event. I worked on subcontractor selection and assigning it order allocation. I modeled it with a ACO in order to optimize the decision making process. With the help on the PhD candidate and two other professors, I was able to publish one paper in Project Management Journal. I am also working on submitting an other paper.

2) The main coordinator of the third international conference of `Energy Trends in Energy Conservation’ (ETEC), Tehran, Iran
ETEC is an international conference which is held in association with many universities, private industry, and government agencies of Iran. The main objectives of this conference are to introduce the art energy engineering and conservation in industry filed.
I was offered to be the main coordinator of this conference. I was working approximately a month in the preparation and implementation phase of the ETEC conference. I took part in inviting VIPs to the conferences. I planned and managed the implementation process of the conference. I chose a group of students, divided them into three groups and assigned a head for each group. I talked to the heads and let them know about their responsibilities. I myself had the responsibility of the main saloon and managing other groups activity.

3) Internship in ‘Moghavem Sazan Iranian’ Company, Gonbad-e Qabus, Iran
I was an apprentice in this company in summer of 2013 for 3 months. It was a very useful experience. I mostly learned about construction of concrete frame apartments from the beginning including paperwork, excavating, building of foundation, implementation of columns and slabs, concrete curing and etc. This experience also introduced me to communication skills with labors and other engineers.
The small size of this project allowed me to see through lots of stages of construction in a short period of time. Thus, the small size internships can be considered more efficient than big and slow projects.
n this project, we confronted concrete surface cracks 5 – 6 hours after implementation. As an apprentice, I took the responsibility of finding the solution for this problem. I conducted some researches about concrete mixing proportions, weather and temperature condition of the construction site. As a result, I was able to fix this problem by changing the mixing proportions of concrete materials and curing methods.
Here are some pictures of it.

4) One of the coordinators of second international conference of `Energy Trends in Energy Conservation’ (ETEC) , Tehran, Iran
ETEC is an international conference which is held in association with many universities, private industry, and government agencies of Iran. The main objectives of this conference are to introduce the art energy engineering and conservation in industry filed.
I was chosen by Dr. Ameri, head of the organizing committee of the conference and assistant professor at Amirkabir University of Technology, to be one of the coordinators of this conference. It was a challenging experience for me to organize and manage a conference step by step. We also search for some sponsors, talked to them about the conference. With their help, some of the costs were reduced significantly. In addition, all the speeches were recorded, and summary of the conference was written based on the recording speeches.
This experience can be considered as one of management tasks. The site of ‘ETEC’ conference can be check by this link below.

5) Three months work experience in ‘Saeedi’ Company, Gonbad-e Qabus, Iran
This company works on designing, making and implementing steel frame industrial buildings. I worked as a supervisor of making Custom Welded beams (CW beams) and implementation of the industrial buildings. In this working experience which lasted 3 months, I learned about evaluation of welds and welding tests. Most of the inspection were Visual Tests but also liquid Penetrant Test (PT) was used for some cases. In addition, I learned a lot about implementing steel frame industrial buildings with cranes. It was a very interesting experience to supervise implementation and making of CW beams. I was able to use my theoretical knowledge in practice.
Here are some pictures of it.
